Taxi and Grab in Pleiku: fares and how to book

Easiest way to get a ride in Pleiku: open Grab or Xanh SM, or ring a local taxi firm, and look at the price before you get in. The first two kilometres cost 16,000 VND with Let’s Go Taxi and 20,000 VND with Xanh SM; a four-seat GrabCar starts at 27,000 VND (prices from July to September 2026). From the airport into town takes about 10 to 15 minutes by car or taxi. Below: fares, phone numbers, the airport pick-up and the evening electric cart rides.

Taxi fares in Pleiku

Local firms file their fares with the province, so you can know the price before you ride. Here is what the Pleiku-based firms charge (the province’s taxi list).

Prices from September 2026. For a short hop, Let’s Go is cheapest. For a long ride, the Taxi Phố Núi mini is the lowest per kilometre. The Taxi Phố Núi mini and Xanh SM are electric, so they are quiet too. The final price still depends on the real distance, tolls and extras, so ask for an estimate first.

Grab in Gia Lai

Grab works in Pleiku, and the fare for each car type is public.

Prices from July 2026, with a small extra charge for travel time. On your own, GrabBike is cheapest; with a friend or luggage, take the 4-seat GrabCar, and keep the 6-seater for a bigger group. The Plus lines only reached Gia Lai on 14 May 2026, so your app may not show them yet. A GrabCar costs more than Let’s Go or Xanh SM to start, but you book and pay in the app you already have.

Mai Linh, Xanh SM and local taxi companies: how to book

If you would rather not use an app, or you travel with someone older, Mai Linh is the easiest to call. Dial 1055, the national line. The office is at 105 Phạm Văn Đồng, Thống Nhất ward; it runs around the clock and does airport transfers and one-way or return long-distance hire. You can pay in cash, by bank transfer, Visa card, VNPAY-QR, MoMo or Zalo Pay.

Xanh SM suits you if you like a quiet electric car and booking in an app. Its office is at the Đức Long truck station, 43 Lý Nam Đế, Hội Phú ward, and its line is 1555. It does airport transfers and takes cash, the Xanh electronic card and MoMo, ZaloPay and ShopeePay wallets.

Two cooperatives also take rides through apps: Gia Lai Xanh at 312 Lý Thái Tổ, Diên Hồng ward (Grab and GreenSM) and Tiên Sa at 57 Ngô Thì Nhậm, Pleiku ward. Phố Núi Car Company takes riders through Grab, Be and GreenSM as well as its own app, so it is worth comparing the apps before you book.

From the airport into town: taxi or motorbike taxi

The airport is only 5 to 6 km south-west of the centre, so a taxi gets you into town in about 10 to 15 minutes. With a group or lots of luggage, take a taxi; on your own with a small bag, a motorbike taxi (xe ôm) runs about 7,000 to 10,000 VND a km (prices from October 2026). If you have the app, book a GrabCar or Xanh SM as soon as you land, or call Mai Linh on 1055.

Which firm waits at the terminal changes. Mai Linh and Sun Taxi were the two allowed to pick up there, and the airport has invited taxi companies to bid for the pick-up spot on a 36-month contract, so the firm at the gate may be different when you arrive.

If a driver tries to put another passenger in your car, say you are travelling alone. Sun Taxi Gia Lai does not allow its drivers to share rides.

Evening electric cart rides

If you are staying a few days and want to see the town rather than just cross it, four-wheel electric carts are running a trial on three routes in the west of the province. Route 1 links Great Unity Square, Minh Thành Pagoda and the Hội Phú stream embankment, and route 2 links the square with Plei Ốp village. Route 3 passes Biển Hồ Lake, the hundred-year-old pines, Tiên Sơn bridge, the Ngô Sơn rice fields and Chư Đăng Ya volcano.

Routes 1 and 2 run from 5:30 pm to midnight every day, and route 3 from 8 am to 6 pm. The carts go up to 30 km/h and carry up to 10 people, a slow sightseeing ride. Sun Taxi Gia Lai has put only two carts on the trial, so call ahead to ask when one is free (Báo Gia Lai).

Avoid overcharging: check the price before you get in

The province’s transport authority tells visitors to book through an app or a licensed call centre and to check the fare before the trip. Firms must publish their prices before the journey and may not charge beyond the listed or agreed fare; drivers must wear a uniform and a name badge. It matters: in late August 2026 a ride of about 2 km in Quy Nhơn was charged 70,000 VND, more than the app fare, with no price agreed at the start (VietnamPlus report).

So check the price in the app, pick a car from a firm whose drivers wear uniforms, and if something goes wrong, note the plate number, time, place and amount paid so the authorities can check.
