Moving to Pleiku and want somewhere to train near home? The hard part is not picking a machine, it is picking a membership: a full year paid up front is cheaper, but riskier if the gym changes hands or closes. Below: two places to train, the public sports venues, how gyms are licensed, and what to do before you hand over money.
Two places to train in Pleiku: gym and boxing
The list is short on purpose: only places with enough recent feedback to say something solid.
Power Fitness Center

Expect a cool room, plenty of machines and cheerful, helpful staff, and a clean, airy floor. It opens at 5 am, handy if you train before work, and the trainers are keen to help. There is also a modern dance studio, and the gym is in a bright spot in the centre.
Look at the room and ask for a trial session before you buy a long package.
Hours: 5 am to 8 pm Monday to Saturday, Sunday 1 to 6 pm. Address: 113 Quyết Tiến, Diên Hồng ward. Open in Maps
Dragon Boxing Club

For boxing rather than machines, head to Dragon Boxing Club on Tô Hoài. Members rate the coaching well. Watch a session first and ask for the class timetable.
Hours: 5 am to 8:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, Thursday 9 am to 5 pm. Address: 87-89 Tô Hoài, Pleiku ward. Open in Maps
Neither place posts prices in writing, so ask at the front desk, then check the contract before you pay.
State stadium, sports hall and pool in Pleiku
If you only want somewhere to run, play football or swim, Pleiku also has state-run venues. The province’s high-performance sports plan for 2026 to 2030 lists Pleiku Stadium with about 10,000 seats, the provincial sports hall with about 2,500 seats and one swimming pool. Every stand at Pleiku stadium has seats, which is rare in Vietnam. For tickets and match dates, ask the organiser.
The pool is part of the Pleiku Sports Training and Competition Centre. In August 2026 it held a summer swimming meet for more than 100 young swimmers over 50 m freestyle and 50 m breaststroke. For a casual swim, call the centre first about tickets and opening hours. If you fancy a different sport, the provincial sports hall on Trần Hưng Đạo is one of three pickleball spots in Pleiku, with a court in the covered area.
The plan is frank that some communes and wards have no sports hall or pool, and that some ward-level grounds are run down; the Pleiku training centre itself is on the list for renovation at a cost of 30 billion VND. So if you live far from the centre, the private gyms above are the more realistic choice.
What a gym needs to open: rules worth knowing
A company running a sports business must have the facilities and equipment required by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and a licence certificate for sports business. The government’s Q&A page explains the rule; see the Chính sách online page.
The conditions are staff with suitable training for the activity, and facilities and equipment that meet the requirements. For sports that do not strictly need an instructor, such as football, billiards or the gym, the application still needs a qualification certificate for the instructors. Individual household businesses do not need this certificate.
The second Q&A page explains that sports which must have an instructor, and the adventure sports on the list, have to be run by a registered company. So a gym run by a household business without this certificate is normal, while for a company it is something you can ask about.
Before you pay for a membership: the Club 300 lesson
A long package is where people in Pleiku have lost the most. Club 300 Fitness & Yoga on the fourth floor of Kim Center, 53 Quang Trung, closed suddenly in 2024, and 150 members filed paperwork for more than 1.7 billion VND paid in. One member had paid 67.5 million VND for a personal-trainer package, plus a 15 million VND stretching package. Gym chains closing or shrinking still worry people who buy long packages.
A lawyer quoted by Dân trí gives these steps:
- Ask for a written contract and keep one copy, as the consumer protection law requires.
- Read the clauses on ending the contract and on refunds for unused service.
- Watch out for wording like “no refund in any case” before you sign.
- Check whether the contract gives a refund, a branch change, a freeze or a transfer of the card if the gym stops operating.
- Keep the contract, receipts, invoices, transfer notices and messages, in case you need to claim your money back.
Not sure about a gym? Start with a short package or a trial session and only then think about a long one.
