Pleiku wards after the 2025 merger: old and new names

You may still say “I live in Hoa Lư”, “Tây Sơn” or “Trà Bá”, but the administrative address changed in mid-2025, and you may only find out when you arrive at an office with your old papers. Below: which new unit your old ward belongs to, where its People’s Committee office is, whether your papers need replacing and which office takes which file. The addresses also help when you give a destination to a Grab or taxi driver.

Which new unit your old ward or commune now belongs to

On 1 July 2025 the new commune-level governments began operating, and the Pleiku area became seven units: five wards, plus Biển Hồ commune and Gào commune. Adding up the old units in the table below, 25 old wards and communes were folded into these seven. Find your old name in the middle column and read across: Hoa Lư, for example, is now Pleiku ward.

Trà Đa, Diên Phú, Chư Á and An Phú used to be communes and now sit inside the new wards. Biển Hồ and Gào are still communes, and they also take in areas from other districts: Biển Hồ added Nghĩa Hưng, Chư Đăng Ya (from the old Chư Păh district) and Hà Bầu (from the old Đak Đoa district), and Gào added Ia Pếch from Ia Grai district. Pleiku ward, the central one, covers about 25 km².

Where the new People’s Committee offices are

Do not rely on an old address or an old map. This table comes from the province’s list of commune and ward offices. In Hội Phú, Thống Nhất, Diên Hồng and An Phú, where three or four old units were merged, phone to check the address before you go.

Every address ends in Gia Lai province because Gia Lai is now a merged province, combining the old Bình Định and Gia Lai provinces and operating since 1 July 2025.

Do old papers have to be replaced

No. A paper issued before the reorganisation that is still valid can keep being used. This is a general rule for the reorganisation of state bodies, in force since 19 February 2025, so you do not need to rush off to replace everything just because the place name on a document is out of date. Authorities may not ask you to replace a paper issued before the reorganisation that has not expired. If an office asks anyway, point to this rule and show a photo of your paper. A paper that has expired, or needs replacing for another reason, goes through the usual procedure.

Where to file papers now

First work out which office takes your file. A permanent residence file goes to the commune-level police, not the People’s Committee, in office hours Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings. In Pleiku ward the ward police and the public administration service centre are set up in the former office buildings, so phone the People’s Committee (81 Hùng Vương) to find out where to hand in your file.

In person, processing takes seven working days and the fee is 20,000 VND (national portal, checked October 2026). The file includes declaration form CT01, plus proof of ownership if you own your home, unless that data is already in a linked database.

File online to save the trips

If you do not want to run around, permanent residence can be filed on the national public service portal, the Ministry of Public Security portal or the VNeID app. The deadline is the same, and the fee is 10,000 VND (checked October 2026), half the in-person fee. The commune-level police handle it either way. We recommend filing online first if your papers already exist in electronic form, but open the national public service page again before you file to see the latest fee and file requirements.
